I have met Eddie and played with him in February 2015 during the Acoustic Guitar Event in the Netherlands. I have followed his growth since then on youtube. We sometimes chat via facebook or do a skype, usually I have questions about recording or something like that.
I see him as a self-made young man who clearly knows what he wants and what he doesn’t want. He could easily arrange a ton of super popular songs but he doesn’t. Why? Because he finds most of them musically less interesting. So he arranges movie tunes, intros for tv series, etc. I see that as a sign of character. He follows his heart, wherever it takes him and I love that in a person!
Usually when I or others talk about Eddie it is about how talented he is, and he IS a very talented guitarist. But there are other qualities in him that I think are just as important. He is a worker! He sets goals. He seems to have an idea of what he wants. He is very good with audio and video software, the list goes on and on. So yes he is talented but he is so much more than that, and THAT is what I think will make all the difference over time.
The music on his debut album is simply incredibly tasteful, balanced and gorgeous! His arranging skills he picked up doing an arrangement a week on youtube shows in his compositions.
Let me start with the song that I love most: Road to success! It is such a wonderful duet that layers gentle melodies on top of a steady rhythm. All the way through the song you feel the build up. In this song he is joined by Andrea Valeri who clearly knows how to tastefully add that melody layer but also is able to take his place in the spotlight once the solo is there. If you haven’t seen the video for this song you should check it out. Andrea looks like a very nice man who I’d love to meet someday. I love it when people come together in the creation of music and how they effortlessly seem to become one…
Path to the unknown is another beautiful creation and I think the title really fits the mood of this piece. For some reason it reminded me of the movie “Into the wild”. I think it would have worked great in that motion picture and that says a lot as that move has a great soundtrack.
No way back is probably the first composition of this album that I will start learning to play myself. Actually this song might also be my favourite. From the harmonics to the percussive bits, its all there. What really takes me in this composition are the last 30 seconds of it. You might think: but that is the ending. Well yes, but it is that ending that makes me play it over and over again.
I think I might have put Next to you in a different spot on the cd. It is so nice, warm and gentle. Its mood is very different from the 3 that precede it but then comes the question: “where?”. And honestly, I wouldn’t have the answer myself. I love the piece though and together with “Road to success” and “The know” it represents the lighter side of Eddie, a side I would love to hear more of in the future for sure!
I am not going to take out every song but I would like to mention that I loved his choice for making “The known” as a last song on the CD. It is uplifting, almost in a way that he his saying: “Thank you for listening, come back soon my friend”.

What I Love
- Great compositions
- A great combination of guitar skills without getting in the way of musicality
- No songs to just "fill up the album"
Not So Much
- Are you kidding? What's there to dislike?!
It is a no-brainer. If you love acoustic guitar music or if you follow Eddie on youtube already and you love what he does then go out and buy his album. Don’t only listen to it on Spotify or youtube but buy it. Support the man and the music you love. We should be grateful for gaining another guitarist & composer who has a long and great life ahead of him!
